Trolley Feasibility

Hello all,

Just signed up with the group and kudos to Harald for setting this up.

Interested to see if any group members have experience with operating or the technical evaluation of trolley assisted haulage. I am interested in evaluating the technology for our project, but relevant experience seems hard to find.

Looking forward to your replies

  • Hi Gertjan, here's an article from barely two weeks ago. After a one-year trial, one of central Europe's largest open pits is now continuing to invest in this technology

  • Hi Gertjan,

I'm the GM Consulting at Orelogy Mine Planning based in Western Australia. We specialise in projects such as this and can point to the Husab Uranium project in Namibia as as an example where we have conducted a feasibility study that included trolley assist and taken it through to implementation.

A member of out team was also the lead project enginerer for operating installations at Kansanshi and Sentinel copper mines in Zambia so well undertands the pitfalls of the sytems.

Please visit our site at www.orelogy.com

  • Hello All,

We maufcature variable frequency drives for AC motors, air and water cooled. Water cooled option is very well suited for undergorund mines, it does not relase heat in-to the enviromnet and aslo they run clean in dusty undergorund environment.

Thay can be used for any application on surface or undergorund.

We are located in Canada and I can be reached at harnam@sparpwr.com for more information

  • Hi Gertjan,

I've been through the process - design, implement, and then using it as a standard for optimising our pits. Obviously a number of basics that can impact negatively on the use of TA, reason why a number of operations abandoned their installations and reverted back to conventional hauling.

In my opinion a very effective productivity enhancement to a load and haul operation when effectively implemented and maintained.

Best will be to visit a site where it is being used and where the operator plan to continue and potentially expand its use.

Like most things in mining - it does require discipline.

    Regards

  • Hi Gertjan,

We could help you to understand the cost-benefit analysis of a trolley system vs hauling heavy out of the pit. I am with Blutip Technologies based in Vancouver, we are differentiated in the mining sectors through our unique ability to deliver high accuracy on-equipment fuel consumption measurement, and operational analytics.

We had a client express interest in a similar type of evaluation. If you were interested in analyzing trolley assisted haulage in relation to fuel consumption and equipment efficiency, we could certainly help. I can be reached at Sedwards@blutipdata.com if you wish to chat.

Best of luck with this project.
    Stephen
