In 2018, a Russian mining company appealed to PRESTORUS with a request to solve the problem of the rapid destruction of roads in open mines.
The issue is that the moraine layer, combined with climatic conditions and the regular load from the movement of self-propelled vehicles (up to 400 tons), leads to the need to carry out repair work on the daily (!) basis.
PRESTORUS engineers proposed reinforcing the base of roads with the reinforced geocell GEOCORD®. The principal novelty of GEOCORD® is the reinforcement of polyethylene tapes with high-strength synthetic threads. The threads increase the strength of the structure and contribute to the preservation of stable geometric characteristics for as much time as possible.
Thanks to the FAST-LOCK® fastening system (and no stapler or generator required), the installation of sections at the facility was quick and easy. The bright yellow color of GEOCORD® is clearly visible on the surface, which helps with grading and maintaining the protective layer.
