Good to join the platform of mining industry professionals. Growing as a child in Ghana's leading town of gold production, Tarkwa, I always envisaged playing a role in the local mining industry. I had the chance though, to pursue Geological Engineering which could have booked a one-way ticket to realize my dreams, but blew it for some other reasons to be discussed later. Now as communications professional (Journalist and Development Communicator) I've more reasons to use my expertise or knowledge acquired in my field to contribute to the development of the industry.
As I look forward to the opportunity to serve in this capacity in any local or international mining operation I would like to add that I'm an advocate of *Responsible Mining.*
Responsible mining, for me here, means ensuring that mining production is done in a manner that will not affect the environment, communities, and people living within and outside mining enclaves. With this tone set, I believe I get the opportunity to tap from the real experts here.
Thanks for the time.
